one week ago

I started some seedlings. Exactly 1 week ago. Most of their Germination period said 7-14 days so I wasn't expecting too much..
BUT
I have pretty much total Success! Almost every single pod has some form of growth happening in it ( aside from the rosemary which I know is a hard starter )

Here are some happy onions!

I don't know if you can see that the pansies are kinda coming..

Manitoba Tomatoes

Tumbler Tomatoes

Subarctic Tomatoes

Cucumbers! ( They came out after like 4 days )

Basil and Sage

And then today I planted the sweetpeas outside and! Some Iris's.
I also started some Forget me not seeds that I got from the pet expo yesterday. I will plant them in memory of all my previous pets. <3 p="">

Wow, Long time nooooo news. Well I did ALL my gardening this weekend. This year I did part container gardening and part Square foot gardening. Big needy plants like Cucumbers & tomatoes just didn't do so well in my SFG last year so I choose to go back to "patio" gardening for them. But the lettuce, carrots & peas did so well having a raised bed.. I choose to keep them in there this year. I hope this year I will get the best of both worlds. :)

These are my "Birdseed sunflowers" that I rescued from underneath my birdfeeder.

Seedlings and empy SFG.

Peace out Tiny tim, Hello Burpee!

So Tiny Tim plant officially died. I tried leaving him alone ( no more water, no more vitamins ) and he still.. passed on. So Instead of leaving a blank square ( oh and being 1 less tomato plant ) I did something new! I bought a pregrown tomato plant. Yes, I did. He is a burpee brand cherry tomato 100 .. and is about a foot high already! I call him burpee.

Update: Box #1

Box #2
Box #3 ( roma tomato to the left )

new growths, new additions, and some on life support.

So we've had a week of rain.. pretty much since I planted / transplanted everything.. today was their first exposure to REAL sunlight for more then 5 minutes.
So here are some updates! ( ps. Sorry some of them are blurry.. :( )

Parsley is looking like real parsley!

Roma tomato lost a leaf? Looking real sad. Might lose him :( on life support.
Blurry picture of some form of mesclun mix ( or it might be a weed.. )

NEW ADDITIONS! walmart had these for a steal of 7$. I googled them and I think they are morning glory? But! I am not sure.

A STRAWBERRY!

The forget me nots are sprouting.. they are the lighter colored things in the pot.

A PEA! ( The little worm like shape in the middle )

And these are radishes. Like a dozen of them..

moved. name change. purchasing!

Dampened off plants.. just a little Don't even think you can tell in this picture...

Holy cow.. I was busy today! ... What did I do you ask? Well!

I moved the little dampened off diseased plants & their way too tiny coconut coir pots into a plastic shoebox to give them more space vs. their little pan that had them on top of eachother.
Then I moved this container into my DIY greenhouse ( which is just a clear plastic totebox ) and moved that OUTSIDE! thats right.. babies are outside!

Then I decided to change the name of my blog to PLEASE GROW. It's a cute little rock I bought at the garden center today and thought that is was too fun.. So Fun I want my blog to be called that ..

and then!

I WENT to the garden center. With the truck. Trying to conver Square feet to Liters or Lbs is impossible, I guessed everything! And there is NO and I mean absolutly NO way for me to get my hands on vermiculite! I called several places. Places only have the 9L bags meaning I'd have to get 56 bags. This is all pre-figured out for me here

http://researchingmommy.blogspot.com/2009/06/square-foot-gardening-vermiculite.html

Exept this lady had success where as I don't. So I am going to settle on something called Zeolite. It is very similar.. and I saw it at the garden store. I hope it works.
I also switched the ingredients from Peatmoss to Coconut coir which is much more enviromentally friendly too!
aannnnd got this very special soil called Sea soil compost soil.. its beautiful stuff.

Anyways.. Today was a good day and I hope my plants do well.

Seedlings and rescues!

Seedlings are coming along very well.. Cucumbers have a true leaf! Tiny tim and other cucumber germinated finally! Rosemary has a teeny little leaf too.

HERE are my rescues! I saw these little guys on my front lawn.. and no I've never had flowers on my lawn.. So I dug them out and saved them. Put them in a nice can ( folders coffee container .. being eco friendly and reusing it as a pot ) and have them living outside by day in in the basement by night :)
